Low-cost housing for C. Jakarta

JAKARTA (JP): The Central Jakarta mayoralty will build over 5,000 low-cost apartments in four subdistricts.

Musbir MM, head of the local housing office, said that the 5,004 units will be built in stages on a total area of 15.5 hectares up to the year 2000.

He explained that 1,874 of the units will be built in Bendungan Hilir subdistrict, 1,202 in Karet Tengsin, 678 in Jatibunder and 1,250 in Tanah Tinggi.

"The construction of the apartments will be conducted step by step in line with the availability of funds from the mayoralty," he said.

This year alone 1,309 of the planned 5,004 units, of which 634 will in Bendungan Hilir, 365 in Karet Tengsin and 310 units in Jatibunder, are expected to be completed, he said.(hhr)
