Looking at 21st century

In entering the 21st century, we may encounter many problems.
Unity and integrity might take firmer shape, but the reverse
could also happen.

We have seen symptoms of such a negative phenomenon. The
misfortune that has befallen the Indonesian Democratic Party
(PDI) is cause for great concern. The PDI is in fact a national
asset and a brother of the same blood.

Unfortunately, an external element intruded and tore the
organization into pieces, or at the very least weakened its
principles and objective, which resulted in a poor showing in the
1997 election.

Without consistent improvement in our perception to anticipate
the next century, the same fate might befall another political
party in the 2002 election. We could experience even greater
calamity in the 21st century, which would be detrimental to the
nation's integrity.
