The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it conducted a covert arrest operation against Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq. Fadia was detained along with two others and has since arrived at KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta for intensive questioning.

“The two other individuals are trusted associates and aides of the regent,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the agency’s headquarters on Tuesday, 3 March.

Budi explained that Fadia and the two others were brought directly from Semarang, Central Java. In addition to the arrest in Semarang, investigators from the anti-corruption agency are also conducting examinations of several other parties in the Pekalongan Regency area.

“We will await developments to determine whether additional individuals need to be brought to Jakarta or what further steps are necessary. We will communicate developments as they emerge,” Budi added.

In accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those apprehended in the covert operation.

Surge in Covert Operations in 2026

The detention of Fadia Arafiq adds to the growing list of regional leaders and public officials implicated in KPK arrest operations in early 2026. This marks the eighth operation conducted by the KPK in the first three months of the year.

The public now awaits an official KPK statement regarding the case structure and details of evidence secured during the arrest of the Pekalongan Regent. The KPK has sealed several government offices within the Pekalongan Regency administration following the operation. The agency has not yet provided complete details as field teams continue gathering material evidence.
