The map of Indonesia’s richest individuals is shifting once again. Based on Forbes’ latest global billionaire list for May 2026, several Indonesian tycoons continue to hold elite positions worldwide, although their rankings and wealth values are experiencing dynamics.
Long-standing names still dominate, particularly from the banking, energy, and mining sectors. However, changes in global commodity prices and market movements are also influencing the net worth of these magnates.
One figure who continues to attract attention is Prajogo Pangestu. Although shares of his companies have faced corrections throughout the year, the boss of Barito Group remains the richest person in Indonesia at approximately US$20.9 billion or Rp362.28 trillion (exchange rate Rp17,330).
Additionally, Low Tuck Kwong’s name remains on the list with wealth of around US$16.5 billion, bolstered by the strength of his coal business, which has enjoyed price surges in recent years.
In the banking sector, the Hartono family remains unshakable. R. Budi Hartono has wealth of about US$15.8 billion from banking and tobacco businesses, making him a key pillar of Indonesia’s richest list.
