List of Assets Worth Rp100 Billion Belonging to Yaqut Cholil Qoumas Seized by the Corruption Eradication Commission in Hajj Quota Corruption Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has swiftly moved to seize assets belonging to former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) in connection with an alleged corruption case involving hajj quota allocation for 2023-2024. The seized assets are estimated to have a total value exceeding Rp100 billion.
The seizure was carried out as part of asset recovery efforts to recover state financial losses resulting from irregularities in the distribution of additional hajj quotas.
Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, detailed the types and values of assets secured by investigative teams. The assets consist of a combination of cash in multiple currencies and property holdings.
“In this case, the KPK conducted asset seizures valued at more than Rp100 billion,” stated Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on the evening of 12 March 2026.
The seizure measures are particularly crucial given an audit by Indonesia’s State Audit Agency (BPK) released on 4 March 2026, which revealed substantial state losses. The BPK recorded losses from this hajj quota corruption case reaching Rp622 billion.
Yaqut Cholil Qoumas was formally detained at the detention facility of the KPK’s Red and White Building branch on 12 March 2026, following the failure of his pre-trial legal challenge at the South Jakarta District Court.
In addition to Yaqut, investigators are also examining the involvement of the Religious Affairs Minister’s Special Staff, Ishfah Abidal Aziz, commonly known as Gus Alex, and the owner of the Maktour hajj agency, Fuad Hasan Masyhur. However, to date, only Yaqut and Gus Alex have been officially announced as suspects.
The KPK has emphasised that asset tracing will not cease at this point. Investigators continue to search for the possibility of additional assets that have been concealed or transferred to third parties to avoid legal consequences.
