Lion Air explains

Concerning the complaint that appeared in The Jakarta Post on Sept. 23, we would like to thank you for your attention and in helping us to improve our service, and please allow us to explain as follows.

Regarding the hydraulics on the rear door, we have checked our plane and found that there is no communication problem between the cabin and the pilot caused by a broken intercom. Besides, there is a warning light in the cockpit that will go on if there is any problem with the rear door, and in that case the pilot will not take off until the problem is fixed.

According to our routine maintenance and safety observations during the period of early August up to Sept. 21, everything was approved by the Indonesian authorities during the ramp audits, showing that any operational abnormalities that came up in the maintenance and safety area and were still within the safety limits. This means that we have done everything to ensure aircraft airworthiness, including cabin maintenance procedures.

Your information concerning these matters will help us provide a better product and service in the future, and we hope you will have no more worries flying with Lion Air.
