Lingga Police Department Builds Legal Awareness to Prevent Bullying in Schools
The Lingga Police Resort, Riau Islands Regional Police, is building legal awareness among students and education staff to prevent bullying practices in schools.
Lingga Police Chief AKBP Pahala Martua Nababan, confirmed in Batam on Saturday, stated that his personnel are visiting schools to provide education on legal awareness to prevent bullying.
“Through the ‘Speak Up, Stop Bullying’ activity, we want to instil in students that bullying must not be taken lightly,” said Pahala.
The ‘Speak Up, Stop Bullying’ education activity is being driven by the Lingga Police Resort’s Criminal Investigation Unit by visiting several schools in the area, ranging from primary school level, junior secondary school to senior secondary school and equivalent levels.
The ‘Speak Up, Stop Bullying’ activity is directly led by the Acting Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Lingga Police Resort, Iptu Maidir Riwanto.
In delivering the material, he emphasised the importance of students’ courage to speak up or report if they experience or witness bullying actions in schools.
In addition, schools were also urged to continue increasing supervision of all students to prevent bullying in the school environment.
The education activity is packaged in a friendly and interactive atmosphere. Almost all students were able to answer questions from the resource persons well and were given prizes for those who dared to voice the truth and uphold mutual respect.
“The police are present to provide protection and education so that schools become safe, comfortable places free from bullying,” said Maidir.
