The Mataram City Government (Pemkot), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has officially submitted its proposal for civil service candidate (CPNS) and contractual government employee (PPPK) positions today. Unlike previous years, Pemkot can only propose 200 positions, taking into account regional finances. As is known, in previous years, Pemkot Mataram had proposed 600 positions or more for CPNS and PPPK formations. “We have proposed 200 positions, both PNS and PPPK. (The position proposal) has been entered into the application from BKN and Menpan-RB. We just wait for verification from the centre,” said Mataram City Regional Secretary, Lalu Alwan Basri, when confirmed on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Alwan explained that employee expenditure considerations are one of the factors causing the decline in the number of proposed CPNS and PPPK positions within Pemkot Mataram. “We are proposing this now because of employee expenditure as well, so it must be considered. In addition, we see that there are many retirements now and some deaths, so we are replacing them. It’s just replacements,” Alwan emphasised. “Hopefully, the 200 positions we propose will be accepted,” he added. Besides employee expenditure, the financial relationship between the central government and local government (HKPD) is a factor why Pemkot Mataram cannot propose a large number of CPNS-PPPK positions, as in previous years. “We look at the regional financial capacity, especially with HKPD at 30 percent, which we also have to consider. Hopefully, it can be considered further later,” Alwan said. Alwan assessed that proposing 200 CPNS-PPPK positions is still far from ideal, but considering the regional financial capacity, Pemkot Mataram has no choice but to propose 200 positions with an 80:20 percentage. “It’s actually not ideal, but if we look at the regional financial capacity, especially with HKPD at 30 percent, the employee expenditure will be even larger,” Alwan said.
