The Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Disaster Sumatra has distributed life assurance aid (jadup) to assist survivors of floods and landslides in three provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

According to the report as of 29 March, out of a total target of 62,990 individuals, 54,585 individuals have received the aid, with the total funds disbursed reaching Rp272.726 billion.

In detail, Aceh has the highest realisation, reaching 42,540 recipients with aid value of Rp203.696 billion. In North Sumatra, the aid has been received by 10,235 individuals with a total of Rp53.759 billion, while in West Sumatra it has reached 1,794 individuals with a value of Rp15.044 billion.

The jadup aid is provided at Rp15,000 per individual per day for three months. The distribution is carried out after data validation by local governments, then channelled through PT Pos Indonesia.

The jadup programme is part of the post-disaster aid scheme to maintain the livelihood sustainability of affected communities, while also helping to restore purchasing power impacted by the disaster.

In addition to jadup, the government has also distributed Social Economic Stimulus Aid (BSSE) and Housing Fill Aid (BIH), which have reached 35,780 survivors with total aid of Rp107.340 billion.

Not only that, the PRR Task Force has also distributed Temporary Housing Funds (DTH) for victims not staying in temporary housing. This aid is provided at Rp600,000 per month for three months, or a total of Rp1.8 million per family head.

As of now, the distribution of DTH has reached 100 percent for 14,021 recipients in the three provinces. The details are: Aceh with 8,099 recipients, North Sumatra with 4,162 recipients, and West Sumatra with 1,760 recipients.

The Chair of the PRR Task Force, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasised that the speed of aid distribution greatly depends on the completeness of data from local governments.

β€œThe faster we receive it, the faster BPS can conduct field verification, the faster BNPB (National Disaster Management Agency) can move,” said Tito during the handover of permanent housing in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.

He also urged local governments to immediately accelerate and complete the data collection of survivors so that aid can be distributed accurately and more quickly.
