Deputy Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Lestari Moerdijat (Rerie), has expressed appreciation for the transformation of the Indonesiana Fund into the IndonesiaRaya Fund as a strategic step to strengthen a more inclusive and sustainable national cultural ecosystem.

“Appreciation for the launch of the IndonesiaRaya Fund Programme. This programme demonstrates the government’s commitment not only to providing funding but also to building adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable governance in the national cultural sector,” stated Rerie in her remarks on Tuesday (7 April 2026).

Previously, Culture Minister Fadli Zon launched the IndonesiaRaya Fund programme as a transformation of the Indonesiana Fund at Building A of the Ministry of Culture Complex in Jakarta on Thursday (2 April). The programme introduces a more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable funding scheme as part of strengthening the utilisation of the Culture Endowment Fund.

Data from the Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud) records that the number of beneficiaries of the programme jumped from 346 people in 2024 to 2,117 people in 2025 from around 7,000 proposals. This year, up to 31 March 2026, the total number of recipients reached 3,036 people with disbursements of Rp 594 billion.

According to Rerie, the surge in beneficiaries from 346 to more than 2,000 people in one year proves that the needs of cultural practitioners are very significant. She noted that the total disbursement this year, reaching Rp 594 billion up to March 2026, and the size of the Culture Endowment Fund now at Rp 6 trillion, provide strong capital for the development of national culture.

However, Rerie, who is also a member of the House of Representatives Commission X, believes that several steps to strengthen socialisation related to this programme must be taken to reach all cultural activists across the country.

“Socialisation must be massive and reach grassroots communities. Do not let a programme as good as this be known only to a handful of people. The Ministry of Culture needs to collaborate with strategic partners such as Culture Preservation Agencies and local governments,” explained Rerie.

The senior member of the NasDem Party’s High Council invited cultural activists, artists, culture-based creative industry players, and indigenous communities to immediately take advantage of this opportunity.

“Utilise this programme to enliven culture in your respective regions. This is the time for us to work together to advance Indonesian culture,” concluded Rerie.
