Lenteng Agung road subsidence expands as two lanes closed following soil and rock fall
JAKARTA — A road subsidence in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, has worsened on Saturday, 30 May 2026, around 10:50 WIB. The subsidence expanded due to strong water flow beneath the drainage channel eroding the road’s supporting soil. Soil and rocks continue to fall into the channel at the site. Following the expansion of damage, traffic police, PPSU, and police have expanded safety zones by extending barrier lines further from the subsidence point. Previously, traffic could flow via three lanes with one lane closed around the site. However, following the subsequent collapse, authorities closed an additional lane on the left side of the road for safety. This has caused traffic congestion, though vehicles can still move under on-site traffic management. Beneath the collapsed road, drainage structures and utilities including pipes and cables are now exposed. Workers are measuring to determine safe boundaries for vehicle passage. One official stated that storm drains had been installed beneath the road. “The drains were installed under half the road, but the latest subsidence occurred in the section without drains. Installation will resume tonight,” the official said. Previously, DKI Jakarta’s Water Resources Agency (SDA) installed steel plates as an emergency measure to allow vehicle passage while awaiting further repairs scheduled for tonight.
