Legislators, mind your p's and q's

From Media Indonesia

It's sad to observe the things that have been happening in
Indonesia of late. The President, elected through a relatively
democratic general election compared with previous ones, had to
face a forced interpellation. It's true that he has made many
confusing and even controversial statements. However, the fact
that he received such an extremely politicized admonition
indicates that the members of the House of Representatives (DPR)
no longer have any respect for, and no longer show any good
manners, to the elected president. This also indicates that they
do not have any respect for themselves.

It is indeed a pity that they, the representatives of the
people, have such an attitude. They should demonstrate perfect
manners and attitude at all times, including when they are
fighting for their own interests and for those of their groups.
They should under no circumstances prioritize the interests of
their parties and thus neglect the nation's interests.

I wonder if they would have a better conscience if they
thought objectively and did things fairly? Can't they understand
the phrase "the people's representatives"? A representative is
someone chosen or elected to speak for and on behalf of the
people. I believe we all agree that the people are tired of
looking at and hearing about conflict after conflict. When will
the conflict come to an end? Only after the country has been
destroyed and there is nothing left to rebuild? When many other
Asian countries are busy strengthening the basis of their
economies, Indonesia is busy breaking itself to pieces. This is
indeed a pity!
