Lee's ailment 'no worry'
SINGAPORE (Reuter): The hospitalization of Singapore elder statesman Lee Kuan Yew for a respiratory infection was not a cause for worry, Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said yesterday.
State television said Goh told reporters at a constituency event that Lee's ailment was sinus-related and was nothing to worry about.
The Prime Minister's office said Saturday that Lee was in stable condition after being hospitalized for an acute respiratory tract infection, which involved the sinuses and required intravenous antibiotics.
A prominent Singapore physician said Lee's ailment did not sound serious and that he seemed to have contracted a form of bronchitis, possibly aggravated by over-exertion.
