Lebaran traveler robbed
JAKARTA (JP): A man, who just come back from his home village
in Kebumen regency, Central Java to celebrate Idul Fitri, was
robbed on Monday by three men who made off with an unspecified
sum of banknotes, a necklace, clothes and sandals.
First Lt. Nelson Purba of the Menteng police precinct said on
Saturday Sakimun, 22, who had just arrived at Cikini railway
station and was waiting for a bus in front of the Proklamator
Building, Jl Proklamasi Central Jakarta, was approached by three
men armed with a knife and two machetes. "The men then threatened
Sakimun, saying they would kill him unless he handed over his
belongings to them," Purba explained.
The victim suffered a loss of Rp 1.09 million (US$477).
Sakimun, who is a resident of Jl. Kali Pasir Kebon Sirih
Central Jakarta, immediately reported the robbery to the Menteng
police precinct.
The police acted swiftly and managed to catch two of the
robbers, later identified as Armand alias Amir and Rosid. Armand
and Rosid and the third man, who managed to escape, were counting
the stolen money near Cikini railway station when a group of
police officers arrived at the scene.
Officer Purba said it was just a matter of time before the
third man is arrested, adding that his whereabouts are known to
the police. (04)
