PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI Daerah Operasi 6 Yogyakarta, has recorded that Lebaran 2026 ticket sales have reached 50 percent of the total capacity provided. Based on data up to Tuesday, 3 March 2026 at 15:30 WIB, a total of 260,347 long-distance train tickets with initial departures from Daop 6 have sold out. The figure represents half of the total 525,350 seats available for the 22-day travel period, from 11 March to 1 April 2026, said Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, in Yogyakarta, on Tuesday. Feni said the booking process remains dynamic. Based on booking trends, the highest sales so far are concentrated on the return flow, particularly on H+3 of Eid al-Fitr or Tuesday, 24 March 2026, with 22,063 tickets in a single day or an occupancy of 105 percent. High occupancy is also evident on 23 March 2026 with 21,530 tickets (108 percent) and 25 March 2026 with 20,529 tickets (98 percent). Meanwhile, occupancy on other days shows varying figures, starting from 11 March at 17 percent (3,355 tickets), 12 March at 22 percent (4,285 tickets), 13 March at 30 percent (6,351 tickets), reaching 45 percent on 14 March with 9,358 tickets sold. The sales trend continued to climb in the mid-period, where on 15 March 7,453 tickets were sold (36 percent), 16 March 7,357 tickets (35 percent), 17 March 9,115 tickets (43 percent), and 18 March rising to 11,295 tickets or 54 percent. As Eid al-Fitr approaches, on 19 March 9,382 tickets (45 percent) were recorded, 20 March 7,120 tickets (36 percent), 21 March 7,929 tickets (40 percent), and on 22 March there was a significant jump to 15,253 tickets or 77 percent occupancy. Towards the end of the transport period, sales remained high on 26 March with 19,448 tickets (93%), 27 March with 18,317 tickets (87 percent), 28 March with 18,069 tickets (86 percent), and 29 March with 17,942 tickets (86 percent). Sales began to taper on 30 March with 10,839 tickets (52 percent), 31 March with 5,923 tickets (30 percent), and ending on 1 April 2026 with 2,762 tickets or 14 percent. Given the dwindling seat availability, Feni urged prospective passengers to plan their travel promptly. “We urge the public who wish to travel during Lebaran by train to plan their journey and book tickets as soon as possible to avoid missing out,” said Feni. For customers who miss out on tickets on their preferred dates, they are advised to look for alternative schedules. To support the mobility of homecomers, KAI Daop 6 will operate 12 additional early-departing trains, consisting of 10 additional long-distance trains and 2 Motis trains.
