Lebaran Passenger Numbers Predicted to Reach 5.82 Million, ASDP Implements Unified Tariff
Jakarta – The Director of Operations and Transformation at PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Rio Theodore Natalianto Lasse, has projected that passenger numbers during the 2026 Lebaran holiday season will reach 5.82 million people. He stated that this figure represents an increase of approximately 9 per cent compared to the same period last year, particularly on the Java and Sumatra routes.
“We predict that this year will see an increase of 9 per cent in both the number of vehicles and passengers for Java and Sumatra,” Rio said at the company’s office on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
He elaborated that a 6 per cent increase is expected in the number of trips, reaching 23,420 trips on the Java–Sumatra route. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles is estimated to increase by 9.3 per cent to 1.47 million vehicles.
Of the total 1.47 million vehicles, the breakdown includes two-wheeled vehicles (R2) totalling 624,000 units or rising 11.0 per cent, small four-wheeled vehicles (R4 KK) 638 units or rising 10.6 per cent, buses 51,451 units or rising 8.0 per cent, and trucks 161,056 units or rising 5.0 per cent.
For the Sumatra–Java route, the number of ferry trips is predicted to increase by 7.0 per cent, passenger numbers to rise by 11.2 per cent, and the total number of vehicles to increase by 10.6 per cent. The breakdown shows motorcycles projected to rise 12.0 per cent, private four-wheeled vehicles 11.0 per cent, buses 8.7 per cent, and trucks 5.0 per cent.
On the Java–Bali route, the number of ferry trips is predicted to increase by 6.0 per cent, with a passenger increase of 10.0 per cent. The number of vehicles is also estimated to rise by 9.3 per cent, with motorcycles increasing 9.0 per cent, private four-wheeled vehicles 11.0 per cent, buses 9.5 per cent, and trucks 5.0 per cent.
For the Bali–Java route, ferry trips are predicted to increase by 5.0 per cent, passenger numbers by 9.5 per cent, and vehicles by 8.7 per cent. Specifically, motorcycles are estimated to increase 8.0 per cent, private four-wheeled vehicles 10.6 per cent, buses 10.0 per cent, and trucks 5.0 per cent.
Additionally, Rio noted that ASDP is implementing a unified tariff for the outbound rush from 13 March at 12:00 WIB until 20 March 2026 at 15:00 WIB, and for the return journey from 23–29 March.
“Looking at the value, on average, users of the service will receive savings of 40–51 per cent with this unified tariff. The aim is to ensure smooth loading of vehicles onto the ferries, so that service users do not need to choose the executive route,” Rio concluded.
