Lebaran Discounts Up to 80 Percent, Retail Sector Targets Rp53 Trillion in Transactions
Retail and shopping-centre operators are targeting Lebaran-related transactions to reach Rp53 trillion for Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah. The target is being prepared through the Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Lebaran 2026 programme. Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the figure represents an increase from last year’s achievement. ‘I am monitoring that the BINA target is now Rp53 trillion, and this is up 20 per cent compared with the previous year,’ Airlangga said at a press conference at Senayan City, Jakarta, on Friday (6 March 2026). Government data shows consumer spending rising at the start of the year. The Consumer Confidence Index stood at 127 for January to February. Retail players are also preparing large discounts to attract spending ahead of Lebaran. ‘And we hope this will continue to boost domestic consumption. The discounts are expected to be between 70 and 80 per cent, right?’ Airlangga said. Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the BINA Lebaran 2026 programme is a step to bolster domestic consumption. The programme also involves collaboration between modern retail and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). ‘So this is a fairly good collaboration between modern retail, department stores, malls, and MSMEs to supply each other’s products, with the aim of supporting or welcoming Lebaran,’ said Budi. Hippindo (Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Centre Tenants Association) Chairman Budihardjo Iduansjah said the programme involves hundreds of brands and tens of thousands of stores. ‘From retail, we have 800 brands, 80,000 stores. Food and beverages are involved. Clothes, electronics, stores, all of us are involved; there are also categories such as medicines and so on, we are pushing,’ Budihardjo said. The BINA programme, he added, is designed to strengthen the domestic economy amid global uncertainties. ‘Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA). This programme is indeed designed to strengthen the economy domestically,’ he said. Budihardjo added that stock levels will be maintained to meet demand during Lebaran. ‘Most importantly is domestic consumption. We are striving to ensure adequate stock. The stock available locally is sufficiently maintained,’ he stated.
