The government claims that prices of essential goods during Ramadan up to Eid al-Fitr 2026 are more stable compared to the same period last year. This condition is seen as an important factor in maintaining people’s purchasing power without triggering a surge in inflation.

Trade Minister Budi Santoso stated that as of 27 March 2026, several major commodities such as rice, granulated sugar, Minyakita, shallots, chillies, and garlic showed relatively lower price trends compared to the previous Ramadan-Eid al-Fitr period.

“The daily price movement pattern is also normal, with a gradual increase leading up to Eid al-Fitr and stabilising afterwards, without significant fluctuations. This indicates that supply and distribution are well-maintained,” he said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4).

The stability of these prices reflects the relatively good running of distribution and availability of goods in the field. The absence of sharp spikes provides room for the public to continue shopping, even as needs increase during the homecoming and holiday season.

With this condition, the government is optimistic that March 2026 inflation will remain within a controlled range and better than the previous year.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded annual inflation in March 2026 at 3.48%. This figure is much higher compared to annual inflation in March 2025, which was only 1.03%.

The government’s decision not to raise fuel prices (BBM) aims to maintain people’s purchasing power amid current global economic pressures.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasised that the Indonesian economy is far from crisis. Consumption increased during Lebaran 2026, and various indicators show positive growth trends.

Cash circulation during Lebaran 2026 reached Rp1,370 trillion.
