Lebaran 2026 Mudik: Odd–Even and One-Way Schemes Mapped by Korlantas
Preparations for the Lebaran 2026 mudik are entering a critical phase. A week before the start of Operation Ketupat 2026, the Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps (Korlantas) has completed mapping of congestion-prone points along the main mudik routes, including toll roads and arterial roads. In an audience with Metro TV, Korlantas Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho explained several traffic engineering scenarios prepared to face the mudik flow: ‘The pattern of traffic control applied this year essentially continues to refer to the previous scheme, including contra-flow, local one-way systems (partial), and even a national one-way to reduce congestion,’ he said, as quoted by Medcom.id on Thursday, 5 March 2025. He also reminded prospective mudik travellers to calculate distances and travel times carefully. He noted that the period approaching iftar becomes a potential congestion point, both at rest areas and on toll roads as many drivers stop to break their fast. Not only on land routes, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is intensifying inspections of train readiness. Locomotive checks are conducted comprehensively at various depots to ensure all train components are in prime condition before the surge in passenger numbers. For example at the Daop 3 Cirebon Locomotive Depot, West Java, on Thursday 5 March 2026. Staff inspect locomotives during routine maintenance. Checks cover braking systems, electrical systems, and safety equipment in carriages, aiming to guarantee zero accidents during the Lebaran 2026 transport period. Meanwhile, in the health sector, the East Java Health Service has taken proactive steps by standing up hundreds of health posts along the mudik route in East Java. Dinkes Jatim also ensures that main-route hospitals operate 24 hours a day. According to kominfo.jatimprov.go.id, these health posts will be equipped with standby medical personnel, emergency ambulances, and sufficient medicines. The cross-sector synergy between police, transport service providers, and health authorities is expected to provide maximum comfort and safety for those returning to their hometowns in 2026. A total of 91.2% of respondents expressed satisfaction with traffic engineering measures such as one-way and contra-flow. Operation Ketupat 2025, he added, will be held from 23 March to 8 April 2025 for eight priority police regions, and 26 March to 8 April 2025 for 28 other regions. Citilink airlines moved terminals from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1B, Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, for the Lebaran 2025 mudik.
