Lazy village heads fined

BOJONEGORO, East Java (JP): The regency administration will
impose fines on truant village heads.

Regent Imam Supardi said here yesterday one day of absence
will cost a village head between Rp 1,000 (US$ 45 cents) to Rp
2,000, Antara reported.

"The decision was taken in line with the government's national
discipline campaign, he said, adding that he personally will
inspect the 10 villages in the regency.

The fines collected will finance the construction of some
roads in the regency, he said. (imn)
