Lawyer Reveals Nadiem is Ill Again, Unable to Attend Today's Hearing

Ari said Nadiem’s body was very weak. He mentioned that Nadiem’s health condition had deteriorated since yesterday’s hearing. “Today Nadiem is ill, unable to walk to the trial, his body is extremely weak. Actually, he has been sick since yesterday afternoon. He was already lying down in the detention room under the Central District Court, but had not been taken to the hospital,” said Ari. “Even after the hearing, he was not immediately taken to the hospital, because the field prosecutors were still confused about the administration, there was no firmness from the Panel of Judges regarding this condition,” he added. As information, Nadiem underwent a continuation hearing in the Chromebook case with the agenda of examining experts and mitigating witnesses at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (4/5/2026). An IV drip was still attached to Nadiem’s hand yesterday. In this case, Nadiem is charged with corruption related to the procurement of Chromebook laptops while serving as Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The project is said to have caused state losses of Rp 2.1 trillion. Prosecutors stated that the calculation of state losses of Rp 2.1 trillion comes from the overpricing of Chromebooks amounting to Rp 1,567,888,662,716.74 (1.5 trillion). Then, the procurement of CDM which was unnecessary and not beneficial amounting to USD 44,054,426 or equivalent to approximately Rp 621,387,678,730.00 (621 billion). Besides Nadiem, there are three other defendants in this case. They are Sri Wahyuningsih, as former Director of Primary Schools of the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Secondary Education in 2020-2021; Mulyatsyah, as former Director of Junior High Schools of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2020; and Ibrahim Arief (IBAM), as a consultant for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology during the Nadiem era.
