Law Minister Plans to Reduce Several Service Tariffs to Zero Percent

Indonesian Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, has opened the possibility of reducing a number of service tariffs within the Ministry of Law to zero percent. Supratman explained that the exemption of tariffs can be carried out through a Ministerial Decree without having to amend Government Regulation (PP) Number 30 of 2026 concerning Types and Tariffs for Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) applicable at the Ministry of Law. “If there is something to be exempted to zero percent, a Ministerial Decree is sufficient,” said Supratman after the ‘Pasti Ada Solusi (PAS)’ event at the Pengayoman Building, Ministry of Law, Jakarta, Friday (24/7). The Gerindra Party politician explained that this mechanism does not apply to all types of services. If a tariff adjustment requires an amendment to the Government Regulation, the policy must undergo a further review process and be decided by the President. “However, if the reduction requires a change to the PP, it must be reviewed and submitted back there,” he said. Supratman explained that one service confirmed to be exempted from fees is the registration of copyright for songs and music. He will also review other sectors such as fine arts. “What is certain is that we are zeroing the copyright registration fee for songs and music,” he added. On the other hand, Supratman stated that the Ministry of Law will evaluate the increase in several service tariffs that have recently drawn public attention. The evaluation will be conducted through internal meetings with the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (AHU) and the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI). One of the services to be reviewed is the tariff increase for the renunciation of Indonesian citizenship and the naturalisation of foreign nationals. “We will conduct a review, we will discuss internally the increases mentioned earlier,” he said. Supratman stressed that the government will listen to public input as part of the tariff policy evaluation process. “The point is, this serves as evaluation material for the Ministry of Law to listen to the public’s voice going forward,” he concluded.
