Jakarta (ANTARA) - Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has handed over the legal process concerning Ombudsman RI Chairman Hery Susanto, who has been designated as a suspect in an alleged nickel mining corruption case, to law enforcement authorities.

“Yes, it is automatically handed over to them. It’s already with the law enforcement,” Supratman said when met in Jakarta on Friday.

He emphasised that the Ministry of Law must not interfere in any ongoing legal processes, including the case affecting the Ombudsman Chairman.

On the other hand, Supratman admitted that he does not yet know more details about the case but hopes that the law enforcement process will continue.

“You can ask the investigators because up to today I don’t know what the case is or what it’s like. I don’t know at all,” he said.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) named Ombudsman RI Chairman for the 2026-2031 period, Hery Susanto, as a suspect in an alleged criminal corruption case in nickel mining business governance activities from 2013 to 2025.

Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the AGO, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that Hery allegedly committed this criminal act while serving as an Ombudsman RI Commissioner for the 2021-2026 period.

“The designation of the suspect was carried out after the investigation team obtained sufficient evidence through a series of investigation actions, searches, and so on,” he said at the Jampidsus Building of the AGO in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4).

In the case, Hery is alleged to have received a bribe of Rp1.5 billion from PT TSHI, which stemmed from PT TSHI’s issues with the calculation of non-tax state revenues (PNBP) by the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut).

Then, PT TSHI sought a solution by colluding with Hery Susanto, who was then the Ombudsman RI Commissioner.

To carry out this, he said, Hery received a sum of money from LKM, who is the Director of PT TSHI.
