Latest! LPG Prices for 3 kg, 5.5 kg-12 kg at Agents and Filling Stations, 9 March 2026
Indonesia plans to increase the proportion of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) imports from the United States to 70 per cent. This follows through on a trade agreement between Indonesia and the United States.
Pertamina Chief Executive Simon Aloysius Mantiri explained that this step forms part of a strategy to diversify energy sources to secure supply whilst obtaining competitive pricing. Before the new agreement, dependence on LPG supply from the US was already dominant.
“And we know that Pertamina has been importing a considerable proportion of LPG from the United States, approximately 57 per cent. Well, with this trade agreement, we will certainly be able to increase it to 70 per cent,” said Simon during an online press conference from the United States, quoted Tuesday (3 March 2026).
Simon stressed that the implementation of energy imports valued at US$15 billion would proceed on business-as-usual principles and with transparency. The company guarantees there will be no direct appointment mechanism, but rather the normal open tender process for qualified partners in the US.
“The plan for energy imports from the United States includes, first, the technical approach we are implementing is business as usual. So there is no direct appointment but rather, as usual, an open mechanism of tender and bidding,” he asserted.
Simon acknowledged that Indonesia currently faces the challenge of natural decline in upstream oil and gas production, so imports are necessary to bridge the gap between domestic production and consumption whilst awaiting improvements in production capacity to bear fruit.
“We are also continuing efforts to increase our production lift. As we know, we are experiencing natural decline and certainly need breakthroughs. To meet the current gap, we still need imports,” he added.
So what are the latest LPG prices at agents and filling stations?
Based on CNBC Indonesia’s monitoring, in the South Tangerang region, as of March 2026, the highest retail price for 3 kg LPG remains at Rp19,000 per cylinder. This follows the Maximum Retail Price (HET) set for South Tangerang.
For example, at one LPG filling station in South Tangerang, the Ayanih LPG Station, the selling price for 3 kg LPG currently remains at Rp19,000 per cylinder, in accordance with government direction.
“(3 kg LPG price) Rp19,000,” said the station attendant on Monday (2 March 2026).
At the retail level or sub-station, such as at Toko Jejen, the selling price for 3 kg LPG is Rp22,000 per cylinder. This price includes delivery charges to customers’ addresses. “Small gas Rp22,000,” said the retail store attendant.
Non-subsidised LPG prices for 5.5 kg and 12 kg
The selling price of non-subsidised LPG in the market currently shows no price changes. At the retail sub-station level in the South Tangerang area at Toko Jejen, 5.5 kg LPG is priced at Rp110,000 per cylinder, whilst 12 kg LPG is priced at Rp210,000 per cylinder.
As recorded, the non-subsidised LPG prices applying in March 2026 have not increased compared to February 2026.
However, these prices are naturally higher than the official prices released by Pertamina, particularly for the level of official Pertamina LPG agents.
