Latest Condition of Baby Abandoned by Older Sibling in Pasar Minggu
JAKARTA — The Panti Sosial Asuhan Anak Balita Tunas Bangsa, Cipayung (Tunas Bangsa Social Welfare Home for Young Children, Cipayung) has confirmed that the newborn Amira, abandoned by her elder sibling in a nasi uduk cart in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, is in good health.
Amira was brought to the home on Thursday, 5 March 2026. ‘Alhamdulillah, Amira is in good health,’ said Rida Mufrida, head of the Panti Sosial Asuhan Anak Balita Tunas Bangsa, in an interview with Kompas.com on Friday, 6 March 2026. To bolster her condition, the home has provided Infantrini milk formula and will feed her every hour to help prevent jaundice and strengthen her immune system.
In addition, Amira will receive routine care from the Puskesmas Kecamatan Cipayung, which has a collaboration with the home. ‘Besides the milk, this treatment is because we will coordinate with Puskesmas Kecamatan Cipayung; today she will be taken to Puskesmas Cipayung,’ she added.
The baby’s cries reportedly drew the attention of a resident, Dinda (20), who was on the second floor of her home. She followed the sound and found a shopping bag containing the infant and her belongings. ‘The witness looked inside the bag and saw a baby girl lying on her side, dressed in a blue bear-themed outfit and wrapped in a baby blanket,’ said Pasar Minggu Police Chief, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, in a statement on Tuesday.
On a note, the baby was given the name AR, born on Monday, 2 March 2026. The letter is thought to have been written by the infant’s elder sibling, initial Z (12). In the note, Z wrote that their mother had died during childbirth and pleaded for someone to care for their sister, hoping she would be treated as their own and not endure the same future as Z.
