Latest BYD Atto 3 Generation Launched: See What's New and Its Specifications
BYD has officially launched the third generation of its flagship electric crossover, the Atto 3, in the Chinese domestic market on Thursday, 21 May 2026. The Atto 3, which is also marketed in Indonesia, has undergone quite a number of changes.
According to Carnewschina.com, 21 May 2026, BYD prices the car competitively, from 119,900 yuan to 149,900 yuan, equivalent to around Rp 265 million to Rp 331 million (exchange rate 1 yuan = Rp 2,213).
Esthetically, the compact SUV retains BYD’s signature design language, the ‘Dragon Face’. However, the fascia has been made flatter, paired with slim headlamps to give a futuristic impression.
From the side, changes include the use of semi-hidden door handles.
At the rear, the full-width blade taillights feature an elegant woven-pattern lighting element.
Practicality is enhanced with an electric front trunk (frunk) capacity 180 litres that can be opened with a tap. Meanwhile, the rear boot capacity is generous, up to 750 litres.
To cater for personalisation, BYD offers nine exterior colour options, including two-tone options for Fantasy Pink, Trendy Blue, and Green.
Inside the cabin, a modern ambiance is immediately apparent with a larger floating central display, running the latest DiLink entertainment system.
The steering wheel design has also changed to a two-spoke layout, complemented by a head-up display (HUD), a transmission lever moved to the steering column (column shifter), and a 50W wireless charging feature.
Front passengers are pampered with electric ‘Queen Seat’ seats featuring a leg rest, ventilation, and heating.
Not to mention a cool box (a refrigerated storage), a heated steering wheel, and a premium audio system with 16 speakers. BYD also makes clever use of space with a storage drawer under the second-row seat, a glasses compartment, and an integrated tissue pocket.
Unlike its predecessor, the third-generation Atto 3 adopts a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration.
Customers are offered two electric motor options with outputs of 200 kW (approximately 268 hp) or 240 kW (approximately 321 hp).
These motors are supported by the second-generation Blade Battery with capacities of 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh.
According to CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) testing, the car can travel 540 km to 630 km on a full charge.
Under the chassis, the front suspension uses independent MacPherson Strut and the rear uses a five-link setup. To ensure stability and ride comfort, BYD also includes the smart damping body control DiSus-C, intelligent Torque Adaptation Control (iTAC 2.0), and Tyre Balance Control (TBC).
As the flagship variant, BYD embeds the optional advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) called DiPilot 300 ‘God’s Eye B’.
This system relies on LiDAR technology and a total of 30 radar sensors around the car.
Through this technology, the Atto 3 can perform autonomous navigation assistance on highways and in urban areas, as well as more precise automatic parking.
