Landslide in Bromo Area, Tourist Access Remains Open
Access to the Mount Bromo tourist area remains open and unaffected by the landslide that occurred in the Bukit Kedaluh area, also known as Bukit King Kong, in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, on Monday (25/2).
The Head of Public Relations at the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS), Endrip Wahyutama, stated that the landslide had blocked a portion of the road.
“It is still safe. The landslide occurred on a section of the road,” Endrip said when confirmed by CNNIndonesia.com.
Endrip added that visitors could still pass through to descend to the Sea of Sand area by using routes that were not affected by the landslide.
“Because the location is at the Bukit Kedaluh viewpoint, visitors coming from the Penanjakan area can still pass through and descend to the Sea of Sand in turns on the route that is not affected by the landslide,” he said.
Visitors can also still access the Lemah Pasar area, previously known as Bukit Cinta, as traffic to this destination was not affected by the landslide material.
“Meanwhile, the area around the Lemah Pasar viewpoint or Bukit Cinta is not affected by the landslide,” he said.
The Mount Bromo area was reported to have experienced a landslide, specifically around the Bukit Kedaluh or Bukit King Kong area in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. As a result, several vehicles were buried in the landslide material.
The Head of Public Relations at the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS), Endrip Wahyutama, said that the landslide occurred this morning at around 05:30 WIB.
“We would like to inform you that the landslide occurred on the road section around the Bukit Kedaluh viewpoint, with an estimated width of about 15 x 10 meters,” said Endrip on Wednesday (25/2).
Endrip said that there were no casualties in this incident. However, several motorcycles belonging to tourism service providers were reported to be buried in the landslide material, with some of them having been successfully evacuated.
“This incident did not cause any casualties. However, seven motorcycles belonging to tourism service providers were reported to be buried in the landslide material, with two of them still unable to be evacuated,” he said.
Currently, officers from the Penanjakan Mountain Area Resort, along with tourism service providers and local residents, are at the location to monitor and handle the situation.
Meanwhile, heavy equipment from the East Java Provincial Public Works Department is on its way to the location to speed up the evacuation and handling of the landslide’s impact.
