Landslide damages roads
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: A section of the Kelua-Tanjung road connecting South and Central Kalimantan is out of service as a result of a landslide.
The landslide, affecting a 30-meter section of road, is the second landslide since September last year, when 40-meter long section became blocked, Antara reported.
The head of the South Kalimantan office of the Ministry of Public Works, Ahmad Tamdjid, said on Friday that he had tried to improve the condition of the road but that this kind of disaster could happen to any section of road located on a river bank.
"More serious landslides have occurred at Tambak Anyar and Pasar Djati villages, in Banjar regency, located beside the jungle road connecting South and East Kalimantan", he said.
