Ground movement and unstable soil conditions triggered landslides across South Bogor, Bogor City, causing damage to residential properties. One housing unit sustained wall damage after a landslide caused its structure to collapse.

“The ground movement caused a landslide which resulted in the collapse of a house wall, affecting the kitchen and bathroom of a property belonging to Mrs Nurhayati. There were no fatalities or injuries,” said Dimas Tiko, head of the Bogor City Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), in a statement on Friday (20 February 2026).

Dimas said the incident was reported by residents during a period of heavy rainfall at approximately 02:30 local time. The wall collapse was believed to have been caused by the intense rain and unstable ground conditions.

“The cause of the incident was the heavy rain that hit the area combined with unstable soil conditions,” Dimas said.

The heavy rainfall and unstable soil also caused retaining walls to collapse along Jalan Ahmad Yani in Tanahsareal subdistrict and in Menteng, West Bogor, Bogor City. Two houses were damaged as a result of the landslides.

“At the Jalan Ahmad Yani location, the collapse of a retaining wall caused the kitchen and bathroom walls of a house belonging to Mrs Wiwi to tilt, and it now threatens another house below, owned by Mrs Dian,” Dimas said.

A further landslide occurred in Menteng, West Bogor, Bogor City, where a 1.5-metre-high cliff gave way due to heavy rain and unstable soil conditions.

“The heavy rain hitting the area combined with unstable soil conditions caused a landslide measuring 1.5 metres in height and 5 metres in width,” Dimas said.

“The landslide struck a footpath and nearly hit the side walls of houses belonging to Mr Suryadi, Mrs Saodah, and Mr Sutendi,” he added.
