The Lampung Provincial Government is committed to opening up collaboration opportunities with students in all aspects of development. Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal stated this during the General Lecture event of the Universitas Lampung Student Executive Body (BEM) for the 2026 period, themed ‘Students as Catalysts for Change and Centres of Movement towards Industry 5.0 and Golden Indonesia 2045’.

“The Lampung Provincial Government is very keen to collaborate. You have the right to determine what Golden Indonesia will look like,” the Governor said.

The event was accompanied by the inauguration of the Student Executive Body (BEM) of the Universitas Lampung Greater Student Family (KBM) for the 2026 period, marked by the handover of positions from the 2025 BEM President, Muhammad Amar Fauzan, to the elected 2026 BEM President, Aditiya Putra Bayu.

In his address, the Lampung Governor emphasised that the progress of a region is largely determined by the quality of human resources (HR), not merely the wealth of natural resources. He noted that Lampung Province is currently entering the demographic bonus phase, with around 71 percent of the population in the productive age group.

“The higher the quality of HR, the faster civilisation advances. Students are one of the main keys in improving that HR quality,” he said.

According to him, Golden Indonesia 2045 will be determined by the current young generation. Therefore, students are urged not only to be spectators but to actively participate in utilising regional potential.

In addition, the Governor stressed the importance of students’ role as social control. He encouraged students to boldly speak out if government policies do not favour the people. “If the government does not side with the community, you are obliged to speak and voice it. Because today’s policies determine your fate 20 years from now,” he said.

Rector of Universitas Lampung, Lusmeilia Afriani, stated that the theme raised is highly relevant to the current state of the nation. She invited students to actively organise productively, develop their potential, and maintain values of ethics, integrity, and nationalism. “Make the campus a space for learning in all directions and capable of adapting to global technological developments,” she said.

The 2026 BEM Unila President, Aditiya Putra Bayu, affirmed that his organisation will position itself as a critical partner to the government. “We do not position ourselves as opposition, but as critical partners. We are ready to synergise if policies favour the people, and will monitor if otherwise,” he said.

Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, who was present as the keynote speaker, emphasised the importance of critical and systematic thinking patterns for students as provisions for life outside campus. “The main capital is the ability to think critically and find the root of problems. The real challenge actually begins after graduating from campus,” he said.

Through this event, it is hoped that synergy will be built between the government, academics, and students in preparing an excellent generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
