Lampung Provincial Government Offers New City Investment to Indonesian Real Estate Developers
The Lampung Provincial Government is offering various strategic investment opportunities to entrepreneurs affiliated with the Indonesian Real Estate Developers Association (REI) to develop the 5,308-hectare New City Bandar Negara area. This offer was presented at a Business Forum in Bandar Lampung on Thursday (7/5/2026), as an effort to accelerate regional development.
According to Kompas, this ambitious project named New City Bandar Negara (KBN) is designed with an eco-city concept. In addition to focusing on sustainability, the area is projected as a flood-free zone to guarantee long-term investment security for property developers.
Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal stated the regional government’s readiness to forge strategic partnerships with REI members. This step is taken to optimise the potential of land in the region into a new economic growth centre.
“The Lampung Provincial Government is ready to collaborate with REI. We bring many opportunities that can be worked on together in Lampung with all of you,” said Mirza.
The regional government is not only focusing the offer on KBN but also on other strategic lands for trade centres, hospitality, and waterfront cities. The potential areas include Bakauheni, Natar, and areas around Radin Inten Airport.
Lampung’s location as the main gateway to Sumatra Island is considered to provide a competitive advantage for the logistics and industrial sectors. Supporting infrastructure such as the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road and international ports strengthen the region’s appeal.
“Supported by the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road, Panjang Port, Bakauheni Port, and the development of Phase 2 of Radin Inten Airport, Lampung has a significant role in growing as a new economic centre in Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel),” said Mirza.
The Lampung Provincial Government is committed to simplifying administrative processes for interested investors. This is considered crucial given Lampung’s limited Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) of Rp 10 trillion.
“To encourage investment to come here, we are opening the widest possible space for cooperation with entrepreneurs and committing to provide easy and fast permitting,” emphasised Mirza.
The General Chairman of REI, Joko Suranto, responded positively to the offer and described Lampung as a highly prospective region. The hospitality, resort, and warehousing sectors are the areas most eyed by national developers.
“REI member developers operate in various sub-sectors from residential, commercial areas, shopping centres, offices, hospitality and resorts, as well as industrial areas and warehousing. Of course, cooperation is open in various property sub-sectors,” said Joko.
REI hopes for special coordination from the provincial government to provide transparent and easily accessible information. Full support from the regional head is seen as a positive signal for the business climate in Lampung.
“We are very pleased with the support from the Governor of Lampung, because his enthusiasm in attracting investment is very warm and this is good for business actors,” stressed Joko.
