Lampung Governor Pledges No More Potholes Ahead of Peak Lebaran Homecoming Traffic
Jakarta, VIVA – Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal has pledged that provincial roads under his authority will be free of potholes before the peak of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming traffic.
He stated that the increased mobility during the 2026 Lebaran Transport period must be anticipated with proper infrastructure readiness and adequate human resources.
“Lampung Province is always in the spotlight as it serves as the entry gate for people travelling from Java to Sumatra. Therefore, our services and preparedness must be carried out with great care,” Rahmat said in Bandarlampung on Tuesday, 17 February.
He explained that provincial roads currently in good condition stand at 79.79 per cent. “The Lampung Provincial Government is targeting zero potholes on provincial roads before the peak homecoming period. This includes accelerating repairs on national roads, as well as regency and municipal roads through self-managed schemes,” he said.
“We are therefore working to ensure that infrastructure can support the smooth flow of homecoming travellers, as every homecoming season national attention turns to Lampung, particularly regarding the ferry crossing from Merak Port to Bakauheni Port and vice versa,” he added.
According to him, the government’s Work From Anywhere policy, school holidays and collective leave can also help ease journeys and spread out the density of Lebaran homecoming traffic in 2026.
“We also appreciate the various central government policies that serve the people’s interests, from discounts on air and rail transport, toll fare reductions, to free homecoming programmes. These policies are expected to further increase public mobility during this year’s Lebaran. So the regional government will endeavour to help, among other things by preparing good infrastructure,” he said.
