Labour Minister Issues Ultimatum to Companies Yet to Pay Religious Holiday Allowance, Issues Threats
Jakarta — Until Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 10:00 WIB, the 2026 Religious THR Command Centre at the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) had received complaints regarding the payment of Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR) religious holiday allowance from 1,121 companies. Of these complaints, 975 involved non-payment of THR, 378 involved incorrect payment amounts, and 302 involved late payment. All reports are currently under investigation by labour inspectors.
“Our command centres are now staffed by labour inspectors who will follow up on complaints. So please report if workers should be receiving THR but have not been paid,” said Minister of Manpower Yassierli in a written statement.
He emphasised that the THR command centre is not only available at the national level but also in regions and industrial zones. Every complaint received will be examined and followed up in accordance with regulations.
“Every complaint must be verified. We will contact, visit, or summon the companies. If a violation is indeed found, we will conduct guidance and impose strict sanctions,” he stressed.
Yassierli added that companies that are late in paying the religious holiday allowance after the latest deadline of seven days before the religious holiday are liable to a fine of 5% of the total THR to be paid.
“The imposition of this fine does not eliminate the employer’s obligation to still pay the THR to workers,” he said.
