SEMARANG, Central Java: Out of the 20 labor protests this
year, some 40 percent are "impure" because the workers were
instigated by other parties, an official charged.

Head of the local office for the Ministry of Manpower H.R.
Djiyanto told Antara that labor unrest this year has been "more
controllable" compared to last year.

However, "we still need to be alert over the possibility of
protests which are engineered by political interests," he said.

He said the governments plan to increase daily wages next year
will help limit workers' protests next year. (swe)
