Kudus (ANTARA) - The Kudus Regency Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in Central Java has urged the local Electoral Commission to immediately update continuous voter data (PDPB) for the second quarter of 2026 to maintain accuracy and quality ahead of upcoming elections.

“We have sent a letter to the Kudus Electoral Commission today. To safeguard voter data quality and uphold citizens’ constitutional rights, while actively monitoring the continuous voter data update process this year,” said Kudus Regency Bawaslu Chairman Moh Wahibul Minan in Kudus on Friday.

He stated this move aims to prevent potential administrative violations in compiling accurate, up-to-date, and high-quality voter data ahead of election stages.

Minan stressed that voter data updates must adhere to General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) No. 1 of 2025, specifically Article 2(1), which mandates ten core principles for data updates.

“Voter data updates must be comprehensive, inclusive, accurate, current, transparent, responsive, participatory, accountable, ensure personal data protection, and accessible to all citizens,” he added.

In carrying out its oversight function, Bawaslu Kudus conducted on-site sampling of voter data listed in the DPT Online application.

The inspection revealed several data discrepancies requiring immediate action by the Kudus Electoral Commission, including 141 deceased voters still listed as active in DPT Online and 12 cases of military or police personnel who had changed roles or retired but whose data had not been updated.

Bawaslu also identified eight citizens who turned 17 and met voter eligibility criteria but were not included in the voter list.

In addition to offering corrective suggestions, Bawaslu Kudus urged the Electoral Commission to maximise public awareness about the PDPB process, particularly the limited verification and validation (coktas) phase.

The agency also called for strengthened intersectoral coordination with relevant bodies such as the Civil Registration and Population Agency (Disdukcapil), military, and police to ensure optimal synchronisation of population data.

Kudus Electoral Commission was also advised to respond promptly to public reports regarding duplicate, invalid, or anomalous data entries.

Protection of voters’ personal data confidentiality was also highlighted as a key concern in the advisory letter.

“Voter data is the cornerstone of electoral integrity. Each vote is precious; deceased voters must be removed to prevent misuse, and new voters aged 17 must have their voting rights guaranteed. We urge Kudus Electoral Commission to promptly address these recommendations,” he said.

As part of oversight accountability, the advisory letter and recommendations were also copied to the Central Java Provincial Bawaslu Chairman.

Bawaslu Kudus confirmed it will continue periodic monitoring of voter data updates to ensure clean, fair, and democratic elections.
