JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Kuala Tanjung–Tebing Tinggi–Parapat Section 1–4 toll road (Kuala Tanjung–Pematang Siantar) experienced the highest increase in vehicle traffic on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) during the Ascension of Jesus Christ long weekend period on 15 May 2026.

The toll road, managed by PT Hutama Marga Waskita or Hamawas, recorded a 36.93% increase in traffic compared to normal traffic levels.

The Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), Hamdani, said that during the period of 15 May 2026, vehicle traffic on several main sections of the JTTS moved dynamically, with the total cumulative traffic still increasing compared to normal conditions.

“Cumulatively, the total daily traffic on the operational toll road sections reached 111,072 vehicles, or an increase of 8.41% compared to normal traffic,” said Hamdani in a press release on Saturday (15/5/2026).

This figure was the highest compared to other sections of the JTTS during the long weekend period.

In addition to this section, several other toll road sections also recorded an increase in vehicle traffic.

The Padang–Sicincin toll road experienced the second highest increase with 3,534 vehicles, or an increase of 65.84% compared to normal traffic.

Furthermore, the Pekanbaru–XIII Koto Kampar toll road recorded 6,562 vehicles, an increase of 32.78%.

Meanwhile, the Bengkulu–Taba Penanjung toll road recorded 1,857 vehicles, an increase of 19.73% compared to normal traffic.

The Sigli–Banda Aceh toll road was used by 7,490 vehicles, an increase of 4.10%, while the Indrapura–Kisaran toll road recorded 9,363 vehicles, an increase of 2.81%.

On the other hand, several sections experienced a decrease in traffic compared to normal conditions. The Terbanggi Besar–Kayu Agung toll road recorded 13,171 vehicles, a decrease of 2.75%.

The Palembang–Indralaya–Prabumulih toll road was used by 13,151 vehicles, a decrease of 7.58%, while the Pekanbaru–Dumai toll road recorded a slight decrease of 0.61% with a total of 14,402 vehicles.

“Drivers are also asked to obey traffic signs and speed limits, maintain a safe distance, ensure that the vehicle and driver are in good condition, and rest at rest areas if they feel tired or sleepy,” Hamdani concluded.
