KSPI Confirms PT Xacti Indonesia Closure in Depok, 350 Workers Made Redundant
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) has reported that 350 employees at PT Xacti Indonesia in Depok, West Java, have been made redundant. PT Xacti is a manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment, including digital cameras, security cameras, and other products. KSPI President Said Iqbal stated that the company closed due to its inability to withstand economic and global market pressures. ‘Yes, approximately 350 employees at PT Xacti in Depok have been made redundant and the company has closed,’ he said in a statement on Monday (25 May 2026). Global demand has weakened, making it difficult to compete. ‘The war has caused a sharp rise in the price of imported raw materials purchased in dollars. Production costs have increased while export markets have weakened,’ said Said. Currently, the 350 employees have received severance pay equivalent to twice the statutory amount under the Labour Law. The company also provided service awards and compensation for entitlements as agreed. According to Said, the redundancy and closure of PT Xacti align with initial information received by KSPI. Previously, the union had warned of 9,000 workers across 10 companies potentially affected by redundancies due to the war. He clarified that the information was not intended to cause panic but was based on reports from the ground. ‘KSPI has been warning of large-scale redundancies from the outset. This is not speculation. We were directly informed by company management. And now the reality is starting to unfold,’ he added. Said also noted that redundancies are not limited to Depok. Several industries in Tangerang and Banten, including PT Shewa, Lung Cheong, and PT PWI, have also made hundreds of workers redundant.
