KSP discovers two problematic SPPG units in West Jakarta, BGN imposes immediate sanctions
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Presidential Staff Office, General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, discovered two problematic Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) during an unannounced inspection of the kitchens managed under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in West Jakarta.
Dudung, who currently leads the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), immediately reported his findings to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), and on Wednesday, BGN imposed sanctions in the form of temporary closures (suspensions) of the two MBG kitchens and deactivation of the SPPG units managing them.
The two problematic MBG kitchens are located in the Kebon Jeruk and Grogol Petamburan areas.
During his inspection of the MBG kitchens on Tuesday (12/5), Dudung found unclean conditions, evident from piles of rubbish to the presence of maggots.
Dudung emphasised that the periodic unannounced inspections he conducts represent direct oversight to check the implementation of MBG as a government priority programme.
“So, in my view, those (kitchens) are not up to standard, and they were immediately responded to by the head of BGN, resulting in suspension. That’s how I see it,” Dudung said while speaking at his office in Bina Graha, the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta.
Dudung also committed to continuing inspections of other MBG kitchens in various regions, including following up on public complaints regarding SPPG and MBG kitchens suspected of being problematic.
“This is what I inspected, and I will check several regions. I hear that in Central Java, in West Java, there are issues in the processes, from determining locations to food preparation, delivery, and so on. These do not meet standards,” Dudung said.
On that occasion, Dudung warned SPPG units currently managing MBG kitchens, as well as the investors and foundations overseeing the SPPG, not to turn the MBG programme into a “business field” or a means to maximise profits while sacrificing the quality of food produced for the beneficiaries.
“I have communicated with Mr Dadan (Head of BGN) to anticipate foundations and investors of all kinds who want to take advantage. This must be truly guarded against,” he stated.
