Passenger movements have become more dispersed, not concentrated at one time as in previous patterns.

Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - The Class I Port Authority and Harbour Master’s Office (KSOP) in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, records that Eid Lebaran homecoming activities at Trisakti Port in Banjarmasin are still ongoing on H+4, with the number of passengers heading to Java Island reaching more than 1,000 people amid the return flow.

Head of KSOP Class I Banjarmasin, Heri Purwanto, in Banjarmasin on Wednesday, said that this condition indicates a shift in the community’s travel patterns during this year’s Lebaran season.

“Passengers departing to Surabaya are around 1,000 people based on ticket booking data. This phenomenon is triggered by the flexibility of travel time utilised by the public, so departures are no longer concentrated in the period leading up to the holiday,” he stated.

Due to this phenomenon, he conveyed that the homecoming flow continues even though it has entered the post-Lebaran phase and occurs simultaneously with the increasing return flow.

Heri assessed that this dynamic presents its own challenges in sea transport management, thus requiring operational readiness and adaptive service arrangements.

KSOP urges all passengers to comply with travel regulations, including safety rules and carry-on items, to maintain collective comfort and follow all established rules so that the journey remains safe and orderly.

This post-Lebaran homecoming phenomenon is acknowledged by one passenger, Hanin, a resident of Sekumpul, Martapura, Banjar Regency, who is departing today to Pamekasan, Madura, East Java.

She explained that this pattern has become an annual habit because she must first complete family agendas in South Kalimantan before heading to her hometown.

She said the journey is done with the family and is not hindered by tickets because they booked early, with relatively stable prices around Rp400,000 per person.

“After visiting relatives in Madura, our family will return to South Kalimantan in about 10 days to continue work activities,” said Hanin.
