KRL Bojong Gede–Citayam Experiences Disruption Wednesday Afternoon, Passengers Accumulate at Manggarai Station
JAKARTA – Train services on the Bojong Gede–Citayam line experienced operational disruptions due to problems with the electrical system on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
This caused passenger congestion at Manggarai Station. Through official information provided by KAI Commuter on its Instagram account, it was reported that an overhead electrical system (LAA) failure occurred on the line between Bojong Gede and Citayam stations.
“KAI Commuter Update: There is currently an operational disruption in the overhead electrical system (LAA) between Bojong Gede and Citayam stations being handled by staff,” the statement said.
Despite the disruption, train services on the line remained operational. KAI Commuter reported that Commuter Line services from Bojong Gede towards Citayam could still pass through, whilst services in the opposite direction from Citayam to Bojong Gede were operating normally. Staff continued working to restore normal operational conditions on the line.
KAI Commuter urged users to prioritise safety and follow instructions from station personnel. To mitigate the impact of the disruption, trains arriving from Cawang station heading towards Jakarta were repurposed as feeder trains. These trains stopped at Manggarai Station before reversing direction towards Bogor.
One passenger, Obet, noted that the feeder train service helped passengers intending to travel to Bogor, as trains from Jakarta Kota station only resumed at 6:00 PM. Obet reported that Manggarai Station became crowded with passengers waiting for trains.
“I arrived at Manggarai Station at 5:38 PM. The platform was already full,” Obet said.
Upon arrival, an announcement was made regarding train delays and the overhead electrical system failure between Bojong Gede and Citayam stations. According to Obet, the feeder train service helped reduce passenger congestion at Manggarai Station, though conditions on the feeder trains themselves remained crowded due to high passenger numbers.
“After the feeder train arrived, the congestion at Manggarai did seem to reduce slightly. But so many passengers boarded the feeder train that it became very cramped and packed inside,” Obet said.
