KPK Views Tulungagung Regent as Not Learning from Cilacap Regent Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) views Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo (GSW) as not having learned from the alleged corruption case involving Syamsul Auliya Rachman during his tenure as Cilacap Regent.
KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu explained this in the context of Gatut Sunu Wibowo’s practice of providing Eid holiday allowances (THR) to the local leadership coordination forum (forkopimda).
“Even during the handling of the Cilacap Regency case, we had already conveyed and warned all officials, especially regents and mayors, not to provide THR,” Asep stated at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday (11/4) evening.
He continued, “Perhaps the information did not reach them or something, so it was still found that THR was provided to the forkopimda.”
“Local governments and forkopimda should have the same commitment to work together and support programmes aimed at advancing the regional community with full integrity, without making payments that violate legal provisions and norms,” he said.
Previously, KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) in the Tulungagung area, East Java, on 10 April 2026.
KPK arrested 18 people in that OTT, including Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, who is also a member of the Tulungagung DPRD, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro.
The day after, or 11 April 2026, KPK brought Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his brother, along with 11 others, to Jakarta for intensive examination.
Meanwhile, the Cilacap case relates to alleged extortion and other receipts in the Cilacap Regency Government environment, for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
In that case, Syamsul Auliya targeted Rp750 million from the extortion, divided into Rp515 million for the Cilacap Forkopimda THR, and the remainder for personal interests. However, he only obtained Rp610 million before being arrested by KPK.
