The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will trace various audits carried out by the Audit Board (BPK) on the Muara Enim Regency administration, following bribery payments to the BPK by the Education and Culture Department over the procurement of smart boards. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters that the investigation will be deepened to determine whether the matter is confined solely to that procurement or extends to other procurements as well. He stated that investigators will eventually trace whether the audit findings are only related to that issue or pertain to audits for other procurement activities. In addition, Budi said investigators will examine the roles of other parties in the case who potentially held significant influence, including in arranging or conditioning the BPK audit. The anti-graft body is continuing to develop the case to see if there are other actors with significant roles in the alleged criminal act of corruption through bribery in the arrangement or conditioning of the BPK findings. Previously, the KPK named four suspects following a hand-arrest operation involving a BPK employee. Among the suspects is Muara Enim Regent Edison. The two suspects on the giving side are Regent Edison and Abi Nurwardani, the Secretary of the Education and Culture Department for 2026, while the receiving side includes BPK civil servant Titin and private sector party Angga. Budi claimed Edison is suspected of giving a sum of money to the BPK related to the audit findings on the smart board procurement at the Muara Enim Education and Culture Department. He stated the bribe money from Edison is suspected to have originated from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi, the supplier of the smart boards, which allegedly provided funds to the regency administration to maintain good relations. A portion of the money given by the private entity to the regency administration is suspected of being passed to parties within the BPK for the purpose of conditioning or arranging the audit findings, one of which involved the procurement of smart TVs or smart boards previously carried out by the private party at the Education and Culture Department. Edison and Abi had already been named suspects in an earlier bribery case related to the department, where they allegedly received maintenance money from PT Millenium Solusi Abadi alongside the regent’s nephew and a marketing staff member from the company.
