JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the transfer of detention for former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas does not disrupt the investigation process into the alleged corruption of the 2023-2024 Hajj quota.

“The transfer of this type of detention, we assure, does not hinder the investigation process,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in Jakarta on Sunday (22/3/2026).

Currently, Budi stated, investigators are completing the case file so that it can be promptly handed over to the public prosecutor.

“We will soon complete the investigation file so that it can be immediately transferred to the prosecution stage,” he added.

“Investigators have transferred the type of detention for suspect Mr. YCQ from detention at the KPK Detention Centre to house arrest, since Thursday night (19/3/2026),” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Budi explained that this detention transfer was carried out upon a request from the family, submitted on Tuesday (17/3/2026).

Budi stated that this detention transfer is only temporary.

Yaqut only spent about seven days, or one week, in prison.

He was officially detained by the KPK since Thursday night (12/3/2026).

Yaqut is charged under Article 2 paragraph (1) and/or Article 3 of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

The KPK revealed that the state losses due to this alleged Hajj quota corruption case amount to Rp 622 billion.
