KPK Sets Legal Status in Connection with Arrest Operation Targeting Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq
The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has set the legal status in relation to the arrest operation that implicated Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq and associates. Spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the legal status was determined during a closed-case exposure on Tuesday night (3 March 2026). ‘During the continuation of a closed investigation in the Pekalongan area, last night an exposure was held, and the matter was declared to have moved to the investigation stage. The KPK has also determined the legal status for the individuals detained within twenty-four hours,’ he said on Wednesday (4 March 2026). ‘For the chronology, the details, and the persons named as suspects, we will provide a full account later through a press conference.’ Previously, the KPK arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq with an aide and trusted associate in Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday (3 March 2026) early morning. The KPK also arrested 11 other people in this series of captures, including the Regent’s Secretary HM Yulian Akbar. Budi said the arrest operation relates to alleged corruption involving the procurement of outsourcing goods and services in several Pekalongan Regency departments. The KPK suspects there was steering in the outsourcing procurement so that certain vendors or companies could enter and win contracts to deliver goods or services to the Pekalongan Regency government.
