JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) seized several documents and cash amounting to Rp 95 million during searches at four locations related to the alleged extortion case involving suspended Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo.

“In this search, investigators secured several documents related to procurement and budgeting in Tulungagung Regency. In addition, investigators also secured cash amounting to around Rp 95 million,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).

“The first was at the Secretary’s Office, including the goods and services procurement room and the regent’s rooms. Then at the Public Works Department office, third at the Financial and Asset Management Agency office, and fourth at the private residence of the regent and his family in Surabaya,” he said.

“And we will update periodically to colleagues,” he added.

Gatut is alleged to have pressured department heads in the Tulungagung Regency administration following the inauguration of officials.

The officials were reportedly asked to sign statements of readiness to resign from their positions and as civil servants if they were unable to carry out the assigned duties and responsibilities.

The letters, with blank dates, are suspected to have been used as leverage against department heads to meet the regent’s demands, including when asked for money contributions.

“Those who are not loyal to the Regent face the threat of being removed from their positions or even resigning as civil servants,” he stated.

From that addition, he demanded up to 50 percent, even before the budget was disbursed.

The collection of the money was carried out by Gatut’s aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, who often treated the department heads as if they were debtors.

Asep said that Gatut targeted collecting up to Rp 5 billion from department heads. The contribution amounts varied between Rp 15 million and Rp 2.8 billion.
