KPK raids strategic rooms of Pekalongan Regency Government
Pekalongan, Central Java – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigation team raided a number of strategic rooms at the Pekalongan Regency Government offices in Central Java in connection with an inquiry into alleged acts of corruption. Pekalongan Regency Secretary M. Yulian Akbar, in Pekalongan on Friday, confirmed that KPK investigators carried out the raid within the Pemkab Pekalongan complex. ‘Yes, the KPK conducted the raid. Four rooms were sealed: the regent’s room, the secretary’s room, the guest/reception room, and the general affairs room,’ he said. He explained that KPK investigators opened the seals and conducted inspections inside. ‘The sealings are gradually being opened. The rooms on the second floor have begun to be opened and searched, including the regent’s room, the secretary’s room, and the general affairs room,’ he added. However, he said he did not know exactly how many KPK investigators were involved in the raid. He stated that sealing several rooms had disrupted their work activities. ‘For now I have moved to the Vikom room. I will continue to work while assisting my colleagues from the KPK investigators,’ he said. When asked whether the raids could spread to other agencies, Yulian said that at this time the activity remains focused in the regional secretariat building. ‘Today it has not (reached other agencies or the regent’s house), I don’t know if that will happen,’ he said.
