KPK: Proceeds from Corruption Involving Pekalongan Regent Could Build 400 Homes and 60 Kilometres of Roads
Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) says the impact of corruption on the welfare of the people is substantial. Take the case involving Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafia. KPK estimates tens of billions of rupiah from the corruption could be used to build roads and housing that benefit the public. Fadia is alleged to have used PT Raja Nusantara Berjaya (RNB) as an outsourcing services procurement company to manipulate projects. Between 2023 and 2026, transactions to PT RNB totalled Rp46 billion sourced from contracts with local government devices in Pekalongan Regency. However, only Rp22 billion was used to pay outsourcing staff salaries. The remaining Rp24 billion is alleged to have been enjoyed and shared with the regent’s family. “That (the remaining Rp24 billion) if used to build decent housing for the people in Pekalongan at an index per house of Rp50 million, that would be around 400 houses,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters on Thursday (5 March 2026). From Asep’s estimate, the money could also fund dozens of kilometres of asphalt roads for the people. Naturally, this would be more beneficial than the money going into Fadia’s and her family’s pockets. “If built as roads, Regency roads with a per-kilometre cost of Rp250 million, that would cover about 50 to 60 kilometres.”
