Jakarta — Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) is investigating the role of consultants during its examination of three architects as witnesses in the alleged corruption case involving nonactive Bupati of Kolaka Timur Abdul Azis.

The three architects are FJ, director at PT Penta Architecture; PH, architect at PT Pandu Persada; and HA, architect at PT Hebsa Indonesia, who were examined by the KPK on 26 February 2026.

“The witnesses were questioned regarding the roles of consultants in the development of the regional general hospital in Kolaka Timur,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Friday.

Previously, on 9 August 2025, the KPK announced five suspects in the alleged corruption case concerning the construction of the regional general hospital (RSUD) in Kolaka Timur Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, following a sting operation.

The five suspects are Bupati of Kolaka Timur for the 2024-2029 term Abdul Azis, the Ministry of Health official responsible for RSUD development Andi Lukman Hakim, the commitment-making official for the RSUD construction project in Kolaka Timur Ageng Dermanto, and two employees of PT Pilar Cadas Putra named Deddy Karnady and Arif Rahman.

On 6 November 2025, the KPK announced three new suspects in the case. However, their identities could not be disclosed to the public at that time.

On 24 November 2025, the KPK announced the identities of the three suspects and immediately detained them. They are a civil servant at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Revenue Board Yasin, the chairman of the Health Facilities and Laboratory Equipment Working Team at the Ministry of Health Hendrik Permana, and the chief executive officer of PT Griksa Cipta Aswin Griksa.

The alleged corruption case related to the RSUD construction in Kolaka Timur involved upgrading a Class D RSUD facility to Class C status, funded by special allocation funds (DAK).

The project is part of the Ministry of Health’s programme to improve the quality of 32 regional general hospitals across Indonesia.
