KPK Needs Further Investigation Before Detaining Suspects in Four Ports Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it needs to conduct further investigations before deciding to detain nine suspects in the alleged bribery case involving dredging projects for shipping channels at four ports. For this reason, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the KPK is still examining several witnesses, both suspects and non-suspects. “Yes, of course, there are still statements that will be further elaborated by the investigators,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday. Meanwhile, he explained, the KPK is still examining the suspects in the case as witnesses, namely to obtain statements regarding unlawful acts committed by other suspects. “So, these examinations are to mutually complement the statements needed by the investigators,” he said. Previously, on 27 June 2024, the KPK announced that it had initiated an investigation into the alleged corruption case for dredging projects at four ports and subsequently named nine individuals as suspects in the case. Based on the information gathered, the suspects are initialled APK, DG, ISP, SO, IAT, AK, HR, OP, and SIG. Meanwhile, the alleged criminal corruption case occurred in the following work packages: 1. Dredging work package for the shipping channel at Tanjung Emas Port, Central Java, for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 fiscal years; 2. Dredging work package for the shipping channel at Samarinda Port, East Kalimantan, for the 2015 and 2016 fiscal years; 3. Dredging work package for the shipping channel at Benoa Port, Bali, for the 2014, 2015, and 2016 fiscal years; 4. Dredging work package for the shipping channel at Pulang Pisau Port, South Kalimantan, for the 2013 and 2016 fiscal years.
