The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving the manipulation of audit findings by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK). Hamenang was named a suspect after being caught in a KPK sting operation.

Acting Director of Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein said at a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (16 October 2026, that three people had been named suspects:

  1. Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo (HWI), Regent of Klaten for the 2025–2030 term;

  2. Ahmad Luthfi H Rahmatullah (ALU), head of the BPK’s Central Java office; and

  3. Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo (MAW), a private-sector figure from PT Madani Winasis Creative.

“After sufficient evidence was established during the investigation, the KPK named three people as suspects,” Taufik said.

Taufik said all three suspects were immediately detained. They are being held at the KPK detention centre in the Merah Putih building.

“The KPK has detained the suspects for an initial 20 days, from 16 October to 4 November 2026. They are being held at the KPK’s Merah Putih building detention centre,” he added.

Earlier, Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo had completed questioning by the KPK after being caught in a sting operation. He was detained following questioning.

Hamenang left the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, at 6.31pm on Friday (16 October 2026), after being questioned following the operation, which began the previous day. He was wearing the KPK’s orange detainee vest and had his hands cuffed.

Hamenang was detained alongside two others: Ahmad Luthfi, head of the BPK’s Central Java representative office, and private-sector figure M Amin Wahyu Utomo.
